Routescan lets you sign in with a wallet, Google, or email and password. Google and email/password logins that use the same email address are linked to one account automatically. A wallet login is different: it is tied only to the wallet address and has no verified email, so it stays a separate account.
If you buy a paid API plan while signed in with a wallet and later sign in with Google or email, you may land on a second account that looks Free, while the subscription stays active on the wallet account.
This article explains why that happens, how to recognize it, and how to get it fixed.
How Routescan accounts work
You can authenticate in three ways:
Wallet: your account is tied to the wallet address you signed with. No email is required on that account.
Google: your account is tied to the Google account you choose.
Email and password: your account is tied to the verified email address you registered.
Google and email/password with the same email address are linked to a single Routescan user. You can switch between those two methods and still reach the same account.
A wallet account is not linked that way. Signing in with Google or email does not open the wallet account, even if you typed the same email at Stripe checkout.
ℹ️ The billing email you enter in Stripe is only used for receipts. It is not a verified login email on a wallet-based Routescan account.
What can go wrong
A common scenario looks like this:
You sign in with a wallet and purchase a paid API plan (for example Standard).
At checkout you enter an email address for invoices.
Later you sign in with Google or email using that same address.
Routescan opens (or creates) an account based on that verified email. That account is separate from the wallet account and shows as Free.
Your paid subscription remains on the original wallet account and continues to renew.
In your profile you see No subscription / Free plan, even though you are still being charged.
Support may also see only the Free (email/Google) account when searching by that email, because the paying account is still tied to the wallet.
This does not normally happen when you only switch between Google and email/password with the same email.
How to recognize the issue
You may be affected if:
Your card or bank statement shows an active Routescan / API plan charge.
Your Routescan profile shows Free plan or “No subscription, nothing is charged.”
You bought the plan while signed in with a wallet, then later used Google or email (or the other way around).
You cannot find the API keys or usage limits you expect under the account you are currently using.
How to resolve it
Do not cancel the card charge on your own without checking first, because that can leave the subscription in an inconsistent state.
Contact us and we will:
Locate both accounts (the paying wallet account and the email/Google account).
Merge them into a single account when ownership is confirmed.
Help you cancel or keep the subscription, depending on what you need.
Contact: support@routescan.io or the chat widget on routescan.io.
Please include:
The email address used for billing and/or Google/email login
The wallet address you used to sign in (if applicable)
A recent receipt or the last four digits of the card that was charged
A short note on which login method you used when you bought the plan
After we merge the accounts, sign out and sign back in to see the updated plan.
How to avoid a split account
If you bought the plan with a wallet, keep signing in with that same wallet to manage the subscription.
If you prefer Google or email login going forward, contact support once so we can link the accounts before you switch.
Before purchasing a plan, confirm you are signed in with the method you intend to use long term.
After checkout, open My Profile → Overview and verify that the paid plan is visible on that same session.
Switching only between Google and email/password with the same email is fine and should not create a second account.
Manage or cancel your plan
Once you are on the correct account:
Sign in with the login method tied to your subscription.
Open your profile icon → My Profile.
In the Overview tab, review your current API plan.
From there you can change plan or turn off auto-renewal, depending on the options shown.
If you cannot see the paid plan, contact support before attempting another purchase.
